The Object Explorer panel shows the objects of a sequence organized in categories, as well as the contours, dot sets and paths that belong to each object of the sequence.
By default the Object Explorer panel is on the left of the BioVis3D main window (see User Interface)
Figure 1: Object Explorer
The Object Explorer displays a tree structure with the sequence in the root. The sequence has categories, and each category has, in turn, a set of objects. Finally, each object is composed of contours, dot sets and/or paths. When a slice view is active, the Object Explorer shows the contours, dot sets and the path of every object in the active slice. When the 3D View is active, it shows the contours, dot sets and paths of every object for each slice of the sequence.
In Figure 1, there are two categories: BrainCategory and Neurons. Brain is the only object in the category called BrainCategory while there are two objects in the category called Neurons: Neuron1 and Neuron2. The object Brain is delimited by three contours in the open slice. The object Neuron 1 has two dot sets.
Object Explorer can be used to add, delete or modify categories, objects, contours, dot sets and paths.
add category, delete category, rename category,
add object, delete object, rename object
add a contour / dot set / path, delete a contour / dot set / path, rename a contour / dot set / path
show or hide a contour / dot set / path
show or hide all the contours and dot sets of an object
