Export a 3D scene

BioVis3D provides tools to export your work to standard file formats in order to use it, for example, in presentation slides, printed publications and web pages. Two formats can be generated: an image of a 3D scene in a standard image file format or a VRML file, which is a standard format for 3D models. For instance, a VRML file can be incorporated in a web page so that visitors can view and move a 3D model in their browsers. A VRML file can also be opened with many 3D software applications, including the BioVis3D Movie Maker, which lets you create videos that can be incorporated to presentation slides or web pages.

Export Scene to Image

To generate an image of a 3D scene, make sure the 3D View is active and select the option Export Scene to Image from the 3D Model main menu.

The image can be saved with its original scale, as well as 2X, 3X, 4X or 5X (if any scale is applied no loss of definition occurs, which allows to obtain high definition images).

The image can be saved in the following image file formats: PNG, TIFF, JPEG, BMP. The Figure 1 shows the Save 3D scene to image dialog:

Export Scene to VRML

To generate a VRML file from a 3D scene, make sure the 3D View is active and select the option Export Scene to VRML from the 3D Model main menu. When this option is selected, a dialog box appears requesting the name and path to save the file.
